People often hear me mention the importance of mastering the basic skills of wrestling. Generally, it is broken into what is known as the 7 basic skills:
1) Stance
2) Motion
3) Level Change
4) Penetration
5) Lift
6) Back Step
7) Back Arch
Now some coaches alternate somewhat and add other necessities. For me, I add hip control, hip heist, and sitout among the basics that are need. Make no mistake, fundamentals are the building blocks to mastery. In the coming months I’ll be explaining these ideas on our Catch TV page.
So remember to practice your basics over and over. They will never let you down.
